WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM HIS ROOKIE SEASON?

It is clear that during the time in college Okeke provided a solid all round game to his team. This can be seen from the statement above, where his game averages are strong on both ends of the court.

That being said there will be rust, having not played competitively since tearing the ACL on March 29th 2019 in an NCAA game.

Everything I read or hear about Chuma is that he is a “team first” guy. He has been described as “the steal of the draft” by ESPN’s Mike Schmitz. Were it not for the season ending injury Okeke was expected to be a high lottery pick in the 2019 draft.

Though his signing is guaranteed to generate huge excitement amongst Magic fans we must remain patient. He will need time to adjust to the NBA. He will need time to regain his fitness and game sharpness. Time will be needed to learn how to play in his role. most likely coming from the bench at the 4 position. He is described as position-less, being versatile on both ends of the floor.

Realistically as fans we can expect to see him taking shots, his technique is said to be excellent. He scored the 3 ball well in college and is described as a good spot up shooter capable of shooting over most defenders. The surprising stat is that he also gets assists, making good decisions from good court vision.

He’s big, he’s strong, has a high basketball IQ and is crafty with quick feet.
