The Magic fall against the Spurs 101-100 in an exciting end to the game in the Amway Centre last night. Orlando’s preseason record is now 0-3.
A huge fourth quarter rally by Orlando came up short by a single point. The Magic had trailed by 18 points but piled on 36 points in the final 12 minutes. An unfortunate handling error in the final play of the game by the Magic’s Jalen Suggs sealed the team fate.
A third different starting unit for preseason was used by Coach Mosely. A three guard lineup of Jalen Suggs, Gary Harris and Terrence Ross was joined by Wendell Carter Jr and Mo Bamba.
The Carter Jr and Bamba pairing worked well. Mo Bamba tallied a double-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks. Carter Jr’s stats read 14 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks. Each continually encouraged the other and celebrated success together.
Terrence Ross led all Magic players in scoring with a solid 20 points. RJ Hampton and E’Twaun Moore also made double digit scoring with 12 and 10 respectively.
The Magic had an impressive 13 blocks through the game. They also added 11 steals to a good number of defensive deflections. Unfortunately turnovers were an unwanted feature of Orlando’s game and contributed to the defeat.
